Flestöll stráin stinga mig - Vaga, Azores (POR)

Nature finds its way, carving it out. Dominating the corners of the city. Abandoned houses take on a new role. Dust collects in crevices, and a seed makes the most unlikely place its fertile soil. A flower appears.

Viðarverk - Hverfisgallerí (2022)

Við erum að upphefja handverkið og hefðina.
Höfðaletrið og útskurðinn. Söguna í viðnum.
Móderníserum formin en leyfum efniviðnum
að ráða för. Stólpar rísa úr steyptum grunni.

Þetta er frumraun, tilraun, rannsókn.
Iðnaðurinn, verkamaðurinn, alþýðan.
Afbökum, endurröðum, iðngerum,
úr verða skúlptúrísk ljóð.

Múrverkið / The Concrete is Abstract (2020)

„Við reisum borgir, krafturinn og skilningurinn er bundinn í stein. Við erum myndgrafarar, leggjum hvern múrstein á fætur öðrum. Gröfum niður til að byggja góðan grunn. Gildishlaðnir veggir rísa. Við reisum myndmál og smíðum skilning. Við leggjum línurnar upp á nýtt. Við erum verkamaðurinn, múrverkið og þungamiðjan.“

"The construction has begun. Our understanding is set in stone.
We mold imagery and form perception. We deconstruct each element, revealing it, brick by brick. We portray the clash between the concrete and the abstract."

Höfðaletur / Visual Research (2020)

Höfðaletur, the only original Icelandic typeface. It dates back to the 16th century and was traditionally used for wood carvings. Höfðaletur can be quite indecipherable and its use and development has been mystified. A residency in France resulted in the 54 page research file seen above, it is silk-screen printed in 100 copies, published by Les Éditions Cométe (FR).

Tvö skref áfram eitt aftur
/ Two Steps Forward, One Back (2018)

After travelling around Europe for 6 months, painting in cities from the west to the east, we found our self in Kiev where we met Oleg Sosnov, a mural curator that has made himself a good name in the city for his generosity.

Ukraine has gone through rough patches for the last decades, always two steps forward and one back. Additionally the work mirrors the mountain range of the suburb, representing the high concrete mountains that surrounded us. The piece can be found at the Scandinavian Collage in Kiev.

Flökkusál (2020)

Flökkusál has been our studio and home on the road for last 3 years. In the spring of 2020, during covid times, we were asked to join the Home Mural Festival curated by Jacoba Niepoort. The Festival revolved around painting a wall at home and this was our response.

Sögur úr Landabæ / Moonshine Mysteries (2020)

Grandalandi homebrewed moonshine was served in fire extinguishers as visitors laid eyes on the drunken poetry on the wall assembled with parts of our studio, where the spirit is also brewed.

Kuldaljóð/Winterwords

The exhibition was realized in Bolungarvík in the Bakki Residency. We spent 2 weeks there during November and over the whole time the sun didn’t reach over the mountain tops. Frames are made by Rammagerð Reykjavíkur.

Hönnunarverðlaun Íslands/Iceland Design Award (2014)

In 2014 we got the honourable job to create the trophy for the Iceland Design Award. In collaboration with Hönnunarmiðstöð Íslands and the experience designer Kristín María we created a neon light trophy. The light itself is a symbol for putting the designers in the spotlight, guiding the way and also when a good idea strikes the mind, everything lights up.
